Briana lives with her father and mother. Her father is not employed. Her mother is sometimes employed and is a homemaker. Briana helps her family by being good. She is too young to help around the house.
Briana's favorite activities are playing with dolls, rolling a ball, rolling a hoop, playing with toy cars and walking. Briana is not old enough yet to take part in activities designed for preschool and elementary-age children. At this age, having someone to love and take care of her can mean the difference between life and death. That's why your sponsorship provides for a trained Survival Specialis from her local church to visit her every month at home.
These Specialists provide access to much-needed immunizations and medical care, as well as food and water to meet critical physical needs. They also lend emotional and spiritual support to family members committed to caring for her. Your sponsorship allows Briana a strong, healthy start, early in life when it can have the biggest impact.
Her Christian activities include attending Sunday School & church. Her favorite activity at the Compassion project is singing songs.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Your spondored child lives in the rural municipality of Cuisnahuat, home to about 14,600 people. Spanish is the common language. Typical houses are constructed of metal roofs, adobe walls and dirt floors. The regional diet consists of beans, maize and eggs. Common health problems include respiratory and stomach infections.
Seventy-seven percent of residents in Cuisnahuat live in extreme poverty. Most adults make a meager living by farming, working as day laborers, performing domestic services or selling goods in the market. The average family income is about $150 per month. This community is affected by teenage pregnancy, broken familes, alcoholism and high rates of school dropout. Residents need jobs, access to health care, medicine and doctors, health education, recreational centers and financial support to send children to school.
Your sponsorship allows the staff of El Rebano de Jesus Child Development Center to provide your sponsored child with Bible teaching, health screenings, counselling and testing for HIV, health kits, hygiene and basic life-skills traning, school fees, books, tutoring, computer classes, field trips, vocational training, career guidance, creative activities, brithday celebrations and community service opportunities.
